Classes
scheduled in the GCARES
area To help those interested in obtaining a ham radio license, the Greene County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (GCARES) is offering three Amateur Radio license classes. In addition to GCARES, the course is supported by the Bellbrook Amateur Radio Club (BARC), the Upper Valley Amateur Radio Club (UVARC) and the Xenia Weather Amateur Radio Network (XWARN). Entry-level Technician Class, intermediate level General Class and advanced Extra Class amateur radio license courses will meet from 7 to about 9:30 p.m. Sundays beginning Feb. 14. The courses are designed to prepare students for the technician, general class and extra class llicense exams which will be given at 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening, April 25. The Technician Class
course will meet in
the large conference room at the Beavercreek Township Fire Department
(BTFD)
Administration Building. The General Class Course will meet in the
Training
Room at BTFD Fire Station 1. Both facilities are located at the
intersection of The Extra Class Course will be held in the Training Room at Fairborn Fire Station 2 located at 2200 Commerce Center Blvd. just south of Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd. just east of I-675. There is no charge for the
courses but all students are encouraged to have a copy
of the respective ARRL License Manual. Current editions of each
license
manual will be available the first two weeks of the courses at a
discounted
price. Alternative study guides
may be downloaded from the
